Menopause. A Sacred Transition.

Menopause. The very word can stir many emotions, and sometimes, fear in women… and even in some men.

But what if the very thing you fear is the doorway that sets you free?

Many of us are handed this word menopause as something to endure; a burden, a mystery of symptoms to navigate on our own, or with little guidance.
And yet, half of the world’s population moves through this sacred transition.

Through the lens of Ayurveda and Divine Feminine wisdom, menopause is not a decline – it is an initiation.
A sacred passage into a more powerful, wiser, and liberated version of yourself.

It is a time to embrace your own personal sovereignty. To step into the quiet authority of your own inner knowing. To trust yourself more deeply.

A time to claim the crown of your own personal Queendom.

Through my practice at Wai Veda, I offer simple daily rituals and herbal support to help nourish the body through this transition – while also inviting a shift in perspective. One that honors menopause as a sacred and empowering phase in every woman’s life. Even a hysterectomy does not bypass this threshold. In many cases, it can make the transition feel even more profound.

The body has an incredible power to heal itself. The soul remembers its divinity; and when the body and soul unite, we are an unstoppable force.

Menopause is not the ending of your vitality.

It is the beginning of crowning the queen you are meant to be!

One of my favorite Ayurvedic practices to support this transition is abhyanga—self-massage with oil. This ritual helps calm the nervous system, support hormonal balance, and deeply nourish the tissues and joints.

Sesame oil* has amazing properties that assist in balancing estrogen and progesterone in the body.

Be sure to choose a raw sesame oil, rather than the roasted kind used in cooking. This is food for your skin so we want it to be unrefined and organic. If you have an allergy to sesame, you may use coconut, jojoba or any oil of your choice.

This nourishing ritual of self-love can be practiced in the morning before bathing, or in the evening to unwind the day and promote restful sleep. If you bathe afterwards, use soap only where needed, allowing the warm water to gently cleanse the rest. This helps the oil continue to absorb into the skin, leaving it soft, nourished, and radiant. Gently warming the oil adds an extra soothing layer to this practice. However, if you live in a hot climate (or are experiencing hot flashes), it is fine to leave it at room temperature.

To prepare, gently warm a good amount of oil by placing it in a glass jar, or ceramic cup, then setting it in a pot of water (like a simple double boiler). Keep the heat low and be mindful so it doesn’t overheat. To keep the rest of the oil fresh, store it in a cool, dark place. An alternative warming instrument is a mug warmer.

Begin at the feet, massaging the ankles and tops of the feet, and slowly move upward through the body. (You may choose to save the soles of your feet for before bed – applying oil between the toes as well and slipping on cozy socks.)

Take a little extra time to encircle the joints. Oil also helps lubricate joints which can get dry as we age.

As you move through the body, let this be a moment of connection. A moment of gratitude.

I like to honor each body part by saying,

Thank you for all you do, I love you.” When I am finished I hug myself, take a deep breath and say, “Thank you to my whole being for carrying me through life. I love you.”

This may feel awkward at first, but I promise you, with regular practice, this loving ritual will not only give you soft, glowing skin, but will cultivate a deeper, more loving relationship with your body and yourself.
